Located in Bauer Woods in NW Portland, a small community equipped with a local cobbler and our favorite Thai restaurant, it’s no wonder these clients chose this neighborhood as their home. With a little Northland TLC we made this home all the homier with a new Northwest contemporary and transitional-styled master bathroom remodel.
The former master bathroom had an an outdated, awkward L-shaped footprint. Our designer’s greatest goal was to find a creative way to overcome the strange space configuration. By removing the unused tub we were able to enlarge the closet space, creating his and her double closets with separate entries. Now this working wife doesn’t have to worry about any of her husband’s business suits or rafting/backpacking/skiing equipment getting mixed in with her professional wardrobe and shoe collection. We even added an extra shoe shelf outside the closet to boot! (pun intended).

Even more reflective of the couple is the original inspiration for this master bathroom remodel design: the plank flooring. Having seen it in a showroom, Gina knew this bathroom had to have plank flooring as soon as she saw it. With 3 teenagers, a dog and cat, it would always look clean and fresh, as well as earthy and unusual. Adding to the outdoorsy, natural feel is the warm sapele mahogany vanity and quartz countertop. The lighting from the industrial sconces brings out the sparkly flecks in the stacked-stone backsplash it sits against.
