After Northland finished this family-of-four’s kitchen remodeling (and dining and entry hall) in Sherwood, the client’s had to convince their friends that they didn’t expand! This is why we call our designer Gina the space expert. Focusing on spacious aisle ways and efficient traffic flows, Gina was able to optimize the space by removing the elongated island with an awkward raised bar, replacing it with a petite island. Adding the peninsula utilized the bit of space between the island and the slider to the backyard.
Black soapstone was the inspiration for this kitchen’s remodeling design. From there, the creamy white stone subway tile on the backsplash was an easy match. The knotty alder cabinets add warmth and character– reflective of our clients! The kids loved the knots in the cabinets so much, they even named them. Our favorite was “yoga banana.”
To set off the wood cabinets, we chose a painted green island, matching that neutral and pleasant tones of the perimeter, while adding more dimension and character. And what about that wood top?! Hand-picked and arranged by our design team, and custom-built by Rod and Keegan in our shop, this island was a personal touch our clients immediately fell in love with. Giving us the creative license to do what we do best, it’s now one of our clients’ favorite parts of their beautiful new kitchen.
While the kitchen remodeling was underway, our clients asked us to throw in a personal bathroom for their son. Just another example of Gina’s space expertise, she was able to squeeze this tiny bathroom into unused space upstairs. We’re not sure who’s happier about the second bathroom–brother or sister. All we know is we love it, too!
